Alejandro Peña Esclusa will arrive in Chile to participate in the 5th Regional Meeting of the Madrid Forum
The Venezuelan writer, political analyst, and advisor to the Disenso Foundation will be one of the speakers at the international conference to be held on September 3 in Santiago. His participation will offer a specialized perspective on the threats facing Ibero-American democracies and the region’s political challenges.
Venezuelan writer and political analyst Alejandro Peña Esclusa confirmed his participation in the V Regional Meeting of Foro Madrid , which will bring together leaders, academics, representatives of think tanks and representatives of civil society from Europe, the United States and Latin America next Thursday, September 3.
The event will take place at the San Carlos de Apoquindo Events Center in the Las Condes district of Santiago, Chile. According to the organizers, the day will feature more than 40 speakers and panelists from over 25 countries, as well as a dozen sessions dedicated to political debate and the exchange of proposals.
Peña Esclusa’s visit is one of the most noteworthy contributions to the event. The Venezuelan intellectual has extensive experience in the study of regional political movements, the defense of democratic institutions, and the analysis of strategies employed by organizations such as the São Paulo Forum.
An engineer by training, writer, and political consultant, Peña Esclusa holds postgraduate degrees in financial administration and a master’s degree in Security and Defense. He currently serves as an advisor to the Disenso Foundation and has extensive international experience as an author and speaker.
Among his publications are *The Continent of Hope *, *The Cultural War of the São Paulo Forum *, and *Classical Art and Cultural Marxism *. His works have been translated into several languages and have become essential reading for the analysis of political and cultural disputes in Latin America.
A perspective shaped by the Venezuelan experience
Peña Esclusa’s presence in Santiago will allow the meeting to incorporate the experience of someone who has studied the Venezuelan political process and its regional repercussions for decades.
His public career has been closely linked to the opposition to the political project initially led by Hugo Chávez and later continued by Nicolás Maduro. He has also dedicated a significant part of his work to examining how certain international political structures coordinate strategies, discourses, and actions in different countries.
From this perspective, their participation takes on special relevance in a meeting whose main themes will be democracy and freedom, the economy and prosperity, security and the rule of law, and the defense of Western principles.
Peña Esclusa has participated in previous editions of Foro Madrid. At the meeting held in Buenos Aires in 2024, he was part of the panel “Venezuela in Freedom,” along with other Venezuelan intellectuals and journalists. His return to this regional forum confirms his presence in the international debate on the political future of Venezuela and Latin America.
Santiago as the center of the regional debate
Under the slogan «A new era for Ibero-America» , the meeting will seek to analyze the political transformations that the continent is going through and strengthen the links between organizations and leaders committed to freedom, democracy, national sovereignty and the rule of law.
The choice of Chile as host country also holds political significance for its organizers. The event will take place on the eve of the anniversary of the constitutional plebiscite of September 4, 2022, a process in which a large majority of citizens rejected the proposed new Constitution.
Foro Madrid is an initiative promoted by the Disenso Foundation that fosters international cooperation between political and social actors on both sides of the Atlantic. Its previous regional meetings were held in Bogotá, Lima, Buenos Aires, and Asunción.
Alejandro Peña Esclusa’s participation will once again place the Venezuelan situation and the defense of democratic institutions at the heart of the discussion. His visit to Chile also offers an opportunity to hear firsthand his analysis of the evolution of regional political movements and the challenges facing Latin America in the coming years.
